During the last couple of months we have been rolling out Google Groups for our Community of Practice in order to provide an online forum where they can interact and discuss. One by one, we have given each of the groups their own Google Group, and everything has been working fine… until I created my 10th group.
Out of nowhere and with no prior warning Google prompts me that I now cannot create more groups:

What to do then? I start by looking for an e-mail so I can contact Google. No luck. I then consult the Help-directory, but I do not succeed in finding anything about a limit on how many groups you can create. Next step is to consult google.com, thinking that if the company itself won’t help me, maybe the web can.
I end up in the Google Groups Help Forum, where an official representative has posted this message back in 2006 to a user asking when he would be able to create more groups:
I totally understand that this information could be useful to our majority of users who are upstanding Groups members. But, these numbers are all variable, so we’re unable to provide exact figures.
Not exactly clarifying, but at least I can see, I’m not the only one with a problem. The solution seems to be that I should simply wait. No indication as to how long. For professional use this is not a viable solution.
It has now been 5 days and I’m still not able to create a new group. Perhaps I should ask my colleagues to create the rest? Don’t you just love cloud computing?
Does anyone out there have the answer? Please get in touch if you can help or if you have any other experiences with Google Groups.
