Biography

Heidi Lock

Heidi Lock has been working at Oticon A/S as SharePoint Specialist since 2008 and holds a Masters degree in Computer-Mediated Communication from Roskilde University. Before joining Oticon, Heidi has held several positions focusing on online collaboration solutions, Intranet, knowledge management and user experience in companies such as Pharmexa, Chr. Hansen and NCR Teradata.

Oticon

Oticon is the worlds second largest hearing aid manufacturer. It is situated in Denmark outside the capital Copenhagen. It was founded in 1904 by Hans Demant, whose wife was hearing impaired.  The company is a subsidiary of the William Demant Holding Group and has branches in various countries.

Oticon continually search for ways to collaborate more effectively and 2 years ago Sharepoint (MOSS2007) was introduced in the organisation. However, the organisation quickly learned that online collaboration is not easy. Users were increasingly frustrated and didn’t experience direct benefits from working with the system. Still, the need for tools to support collaboration was clear.

Learn how Oticon is now helping users make the most of the available collaboration tools through:

  • A formalized process of education
  • Workshops to clearly identify and document the work processes that the site is going to support
  • Help for building the actual site

This proces has proved very effective, in fact a user survey showed that the success rate of Oticon’s SharePoint collaboration sites had increased from 48 % to 87%!
