Karen works as intranet manager in Corporate HR in Arla Foods. As part of a two-person team where the other part is placed in Corporate Communication, Karen main tasks are to develop and maintain the global intranet with special focus on self service, collaboration, search and document management.
She has a masters in English and Nordic Languages and Literature from Aarhus University in 2004 and have been working in Arla Foods ever since, initially with the implementation of the intranet and since with the maintenance and development of it. There are not many areas within intranet management that Karen haven’t been involved in over the years, but her primary areas of interests are collaboration and self-service – the task-based intranet.
Karen lives Aarhus with her husband and two little girls.
Arla Foods is a Swedish-Danish cooperative based in Aarhus, Denmark, and the largest producer of dairy products in Scandinavia. The company was formed as the result of a merger between the Swedish dairy cooperative Arla and the Danish dairy company MD Foods on 17 April 2000. Arla Foods is owned by approximately 7,996 milk producers in Denmark and Sweden. The name Arla derives from the same word as the English word "early" and is an archaic Swedish term for "early (in the morning)".

Innovation is a strategic focal point for Arla Foods. During the past years there has been a number of initiatives with the shared objective of strengthening and developing innovative culture throughout Arla. Among these was the introduction of Lotus Quickr. The intention was for Quickr to be the collaboration and knowledge-sharing tool that formed the foundation on which to build an innovative culture.
