Martin Risgaard Rasmussen

Intranet webmaster, Arla Foods

Biography

  Martin Risgaard Rasmussen

Martin is a part of the corporate communication department in the dairy company Arla Foods where he takes care of the internal online communication platforms.

His main task, as one half of a two-person team, is to look after the global Intranet – also known as My Workplace – mainly when it comes to daily support of the global editor network, but also the strategic development of the intranet to make sure that it meets the requirements of the employees as well as the company in the best possible way.

In addition to the intranet he is exploring the realms of social media and how these can be used for communication and knowledge sharing both within the company but also with the ‘outside world’. In his opinion it is extremely important for internal comms people to stay up to date with what’s going on in the World Wide Web since this is the yardstick used to measure your intranet. You may not be able to meet all demands, but the first step is to know what demands you need to meet!

Martin holds a degree in international sales and marketing and has been working internationally with online marketing and communication, both internal and external, in Denmark and the UK since 2002.

He works and lives in Århus and when not causing havoc in cyberspace Martin can often be found on a grassy field trying to beat the living daylights out of a little white ball – Yes, you guessed it, he is an avid golfer always in pursuit of improving his handicap which is 15 – at least on paper!

Re-ignite your intranet - Why having no budget is not all bad

Case: Arla Foods

Track: Intranet
Conference Day #1, Wednesday November 3rd, 10.30-12.00

Like most companies Arla was hit by the financial crisis and had to cut cost. One of many areas affected was the intranet which meant that 2010 set out to be a very quiet year for the intranet team with no big. shiny things on the horizon.

However, the reality turned out to be quite different. Learn why coming to an (almost) full stop can be very helpful in terms of getting your priorities straight, and also how an intranet can move forward when nobody mentions the word "Intranet".
