Tutorial

Creating a Compelling Intranet Solution using SharePoint 2010

Tutorial Day, Tuesday November 2nd, 9.00-12.00

Many organizations today use SharePoint as an intranet platform.  The benefit is being able to use all of the robust functionality SharePoint provides “out of the box.”  However, few organizations completely understand the nuances or full capabilities before they start implementing.  During this pre-conference seminar, Consejo’s Principal Consultant and internationally recognized SharePoint expert, Shawn Shell, will demonstrate how to create a compelling Intranet for organizations of all sizes.  He will specifically discuss the following:

  • Intranet basics on SharePoint
  • Creating dashboards and other “intelligence” features
  • Implementing social features
  • Effective taxonomy and metadata in a multi-lingual environment
  • Using SharePoint features to help enforce good governance

Presentation

Connecting Diverse Customers or Citizens to your Organization in an Meaningful Way through the Web

Track: Collaboration
Conference Day #2, Thursday November 4th, 16.00-17.00

Organizations that sell to channel partners instead of direct to consumers are constantly challenged: how to best give the sales force visibility into account activity,  how to provide the right tools to trade accounts to improve customer service, creating opportunities to improve revenue for the producer and better service to the customer and how to make both experiences – sales and customer – compelling.  If you operate in multiple countries and in multiple languages, these challenges are multiplied.  The answer is that you can and Maui Jim has done it with a trade portal built on SharePoint 2010.

During this talk, Shawn Shell, Principal Consultant with Consejo, will discuss the basic business challenges Maui Jim was trying to overcome, background data from the sales force (and their accounts), what features of SharePoint helped create and show you the outcome.  Topics include:

  • Understanding the communities of users
  • Creating a compelling experience
  • Drawing on SharePoint as a platform and writing bespoke components where appropriate
  • Providing tools to help the sales force and their customers collaborate to improve both sales and customer service
