Biography

  Sidsel Skovborg

Sidsel is the head of the web unit at the Municipality of Frederiksberg where she has with online solutions for almost 10 years.

Her experience at the municipality covers projects within eGovernment, voice recognition, LEAN, Document Management System, self-service solutions and online elections.

Their website won the Best on the Net award in 2008, an award for organisations within the public sector in Denmark.

The Municipality of Frederiksberg (Frederiksberg Kommune) has almost 7,000 employees. More than 6,300 work in the decentral institutions of the municipality and hence work directly with children, young people and senior citizens. The remaining 700 employees work in the administration.

We like to think of Frederiksberg as the green oasis in the big city(Copenhagen). Even with 93,000 inhabitants in an area of 8.77 square kilometers, there is plenty of room for both people and nature.

Municipalities as well as other organisations in the public sector need a more commercial approach to the web platforms, if we want to reach our strategic goals. We  need to keep asking ourselves “what creates value for citizens and our business”.

This requires an interdisciplinary approach to the execution of web activities in our organisation.

The interdisciplinary approach needs to be concerned with the following matters:
1) which activities support our digital strategy
2) which activities contribute to the departments needs
3) how does this balance with the users' world

Sidsel will share the design of the municipality's web governance and how they aim to support an interdisciplinary approach. In the end, their goal is to strengthen the web professionalism within the organization.
