The hype around social media has become deafening. According to our keynote speaker Peter Kim, organizations are feeling pressured to “join the conversation” or risk becoming irrelevant. In his Wednesday opening keynote on Social Business Design, he will share his views on how to achieve transformation which scales.
When Pete was at Forrester Research from 2005 – 2008, he mostly covered what was then called social computing. Social computing became social media and Web 2.0. Today ’social business’ seems to be the new and broad beyond-the-tools term.
Pete will also be hosting a 3 hour workshop on tutorial day on how you make sense of social business. In the session, Pete will provide attendees with a framework to address the key challenges and tough questions such as: What are we trying to achieve? How do we make sense of the choices? How do we start?
Social business is also a key theme in several case studies at the conference, including talks on the e-health track on social media milestones at the Cleveland Clinic and by the The California Endowment on Can The Social Web Effect Positive Change?
To gain a better understanding of social business, it might be worth examining businesses that are not social. If you have some examples from your own or other organizations, please post a comment below.
