UNDP

UNDP is the UN's global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our wide range of partners.

World leaders have pledged to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, including the overarching goal of cutting poverty in half by 2015. UNDP's network links and coordinates global and national efforts to reach these Goals. Our focus is helping countries build and share solutions to the challenges of:

* Democratic Governance

* Poverty Reduction

* Crisis Prevention and Recovery

* Environment and Energy

* HIV/AIDS

UNDP helps developing countries attract and use aid effectively. In all our activities, we encourage the protection of human rights and the empowerment of women.

Presentation

A new intranet for a highly decentralized international organization

Case: UNDP

Intranet, Conference Day #2, Thursday May 6th, 1.00 pm - 2.00 pm

UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) is an intergovernmental organization with about 10,000 staff worldwide: 1,500 in HQ in New York, and more than 7,500 staff in 166 Country Offices around the world. The current intranet situation is fragmented, with a mix of technologies (open source and proprietary) and many different entry points on the corporate, regional and country office level.

In this presentation you will learn how UNDP approaches the challenging task of creating a better intranet environment in such a disparate environment, from the first inception of the Intranet Task Force to the Intranet Implementation Project with these four outcomes:

  • Corporate SharePoint platform
  • Corporate Governance framework
  • User Interface redesign
  • Solutions for local office intranet implementations
