Nathan Gerber

Director - Web Development Services, Utah Valley University

Biography

  Nathan Gerber

Nathan Gerber is a web solutions consultant and entrepreneur who specializes in helping educational institutions and businesses build effective and productive web solutions.  Working on the web since 1993, before web browsers were invented, Nathan has assisted dozens of businesses and educational institutions and also many national, state and local organizations in creating more effective and productive web solutions based on their needs.

As the technologies driving the web have evolved, Nathan has not only kept up with the trends, but has been a driving force in helping his clients move with the changes, furthering their returns on their investments in the web.  As a speaker, consultant, and entrepreneur, he has gained the expertise to head in the right direction with the flexibility of turning when necessary.

His other responsibilities include being CEO/President of iConnect Strategies, the Director of Web Development Services at Utah Valley University, and an Associate Consultant for the Web Strategy Services team at Noel-Levitz.

Busy and involved would be good descriptive words for Nathan.  He is a devoted father of five children and loving husband of Janelle, his wife of 19 years.  Nathan is also an avid scouter, gardener and church volunteer.  For him, being outdoors and working with others in the community helps offset the hours in the office and on a computer.  He enjoys his interests, but his greatest joys come from being with his family, and hanging out with his wife.  You’ll often hear Nathan say, “I’ve never met any technology that is as good-looking as my wife.”

Building a Winning Team: How UVU has built their web teams and committees

Case: Utah Valley University

Online strategy, Conference Day #1, Wednesday May 5th, 10.30 am - 12.00 am

Building a winning team is no easy task in any environment, but can have an added level of complexity in the higher education world.  Administration, academics, marketing, and IT all have different focus when it comes to the web.  Bringing all those different directions together can be quite a challenge.  Utah Valley University (UVU) has taken a unique approach to gather input from around campus, merge the different needs together and implement a web strategy for future growth and innovation.  Their team called the UV Web Advisory Council (UV-WAC) has been a key in the success of UVU’s ability to stay up and current with web trends and student online needs.

Our web is not perfect, but this team gives us a great foundation and structure to help govern direction and implementation.  Come see how our team is organized, how we came to such an organization, and the lessons learned throughout the process.  Finally, see if our team concepts can help in developing your web team.
