Intranets have come a long way over the past decade with a significant evolution in the skill set required. Beth Gleba is the Internal Information Manager from IKEA North America and she will talk on the intranet conference track about the various phases though which the IKEA Intranet has gone over the past decade. She will also look into the future: How can intranet managers prepare for what is coming?
IKEA has defined four phases that their award-winning IKEA Intranet has passed through:
- Startup
- Business Integration
- Globalization
- Socialization
For each phase, Beth will reflect on the most valuable skill set. Beth will also look beyond these phases into the future: What are the key trends facing intranet managers and how can they prepare themselves professionally for what is coming? This conversation will continue in an intranet roundtable discussion that Beth is hosting later in the day.
Beth also spoke at the J. Boye conferences in Philadelphia in 2009 and 2010. In 2009, she shared lessons learned on how to use the intranet to drive sales, which included using the intranet to communicate sales plans and store manager dashboard. In 2010, she spoke about extending the intranet to IKEA staff in the stores with a new hub for self-service links. Past conference delegates can download the slides.
In this brief from the 2010 conference, she talks about the inaccessible intranet:
