Biography

  Bob Boiko

Bob is a recognized world-wide as a thought leader in the field of information management, he has almost 20 years of experience designing and building Web, hypertext and multimedia systems and tools for some of the world’s top technology corporations (including Microsoft, Motorola, and Boeing).

Bob has sat on many advisory boards and is the recipient of many awards including the 2005 EContent 100 Award. He is author of two editions of “The Content Management Bible” and the new book “Laughing at the CIO: Leading Information Management in the Information Age”. Bob is internationally known for his lectures and workshops.

Bob is an extremely skilled analyst, facilitator, teacher, designer, and architect and has extensive expertise in content and knowledge management, authoring, multimedia design, Web publishing and tool construction. He has undergraduate degrees in physics and oceanography and a graduate degree in human communication.

Favorite pastimes, outside of information management, include hiking, bicycling and snowboarding.

For many people social media vaguely describe the coolest stuff we do now on the web and mobile platforms. But what is really new about it? How does it fit with what you have done in the past and, most importantly, how can you use social media to get what your organization wants? In this workshop you will:

  • Develop a perspective to deal with the onslaught of new social technologies that confront your organization.
  • Learn a process for constructing social media strategy.
  • Create a social strategy statement that clearly defines one good use of social media to meet your organization’s goals.
  • Work thorough the staffing, informational and technological implications of implementing your strategy statement.

For many people social media vaguely describe the coolest stuff we do now on the web and mobile platforms. But what is really new about it? How does it fit with what you have done in the past and, most importantly, how can you use social media to get what your organization wants?

In this keynote, I will merge the new ideas of social media with the older ideas of information management and information strategy. I will give you a perspective from which to master social media and get you started strategizing around it.
